01 The Client

Callum Innes Studio is an artist's studio based in Edinburgh. They had been using FileMaker for several years to maintain a database of artworks — tracking titles, details, images, gallery locations, and storage information.

02 The Challenge

The studio had been running their database from a single file on a local machine. They recognised the benefits of moving the data to FileMaker Server for automated backups and remote access, making the database available to team members outside the studio.

03 Our Approach

We installed FileMaker Server and configured the network for remote access. We then created a bespoke app launcher file, allowing studio users to open their database directly from the desktop — removing the need to navigate FileMaker's Open Remote menu. We also created thumbnails of their extensive image collection, as the original high-resolution files would have made remote access unusable.
